DV8 is a community for junior coders to connect with elders. We’ve been advised by our Head of Diversity to clarify that by “elders” we mean coders with plenty of experience.

You get free access to our content hub - to show you where to start, teach you how to market yourself in the ever changing tech world, and to point you to opportunities with employers.

At the same time, we’re a community - a place to hang out with likeminded people. Those who are facing the same challenges you are, or who’ve overcome them to get where they are today. One part training, one part job search, one part support network - peppered with fun and community spirit.

Like you, Dv8 has lofty long-term goals. Together, we’ll evolve to become the place that makes it easier to transition into your ideal coding career, regardless of what you did before.

Aren’t you tired?

Tired of blinkered thinking and lazy justifications for things staying the way they are.

Tired of seeing capable, enthusiastic, ambitious people being left out along the way.

And mostly, tired of knowing that this helps no one. Not the tech industry facing a multi-year skills shortage. Not the existing employees in their understaffed departments. And definitely not the people who are trying to get their foot in the door and being rejected every time.

But there’s a clear and obvious solution. Companies say they want to hire a more diverse group of people for their software engineering roles, but to achieve that, they need to look outside of an industry that’s mostly white, male, and under 35. They need to break free from their hiring established norms.

DV8 is a community where employers can spend time in the company of those who are working hard to find their way in. To help them realise the extensive pool of talent that they’ve been missing all this time.

Because like they say, it’s all about who you know.

We’re here for:
• Anyone who wants to work as a software engineer.
• Anyone who already works in the coding space and can give time and share knowledge towards helping others - through conversation, mentorship, interviews, Q&As, hosting events. We also welcome your ideas.
• Anyone who’s involved with hiring software engineers and wants to level up their strategy and improve diversity.

Where ...

We’re an online community, so you can join from anywhere in the world.

Because of our British roots, it’s likely that our live online events will be scheduled around Europe or Africa for now (timezone +/- 1hr of GMT), but we’ll cater for different locations as our network grows.

We’ll be rolling out our events in person, worldwide. Community-built “chapters” will pop up in major cities, so you’ll get the chance to meet each other in the real world.
